Freezing meatballs

by Patricia

I would like to pre cook some meatballs for a party. I make them with beef mince, seasoning, onion, breadcrumbs and an egg. Is there anything in this that I need to leave out so that I can freeze them for about three weeks please?

Answer
Hi Patricia,

No, you don't have to leave anything out.

So the quick answer is that they freeze pre-cooked and you must fully cook them.

I've seen people suggest undercooking them so that they are not overcooked when reheated but if you don't fully cook them than your not killing all the bacteria in the food.

Those breadcrumbs will help keep them moist. And thawed food reheats quicker thus keeping more moisture.

Hope that answers your question. If you want to read more you can check out these pages:
