Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe
With this easy homemade taco seasoning recipe is a breeze to make your own from scratch mix and it's just as easy as cooking with a store bough seasoning mix but you know exactly what is in it.
I love adding this to beef, chicken, beans and rice. It would also work in place of taco seasoning for casserole and soup recipes and it's guaranteed to be gluten free, dairy free, artificial color and flavor free and preservative free.
Use 2 tablespoons homemade mix to replace one store bought taco seasoning packet.
Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe
2 Tbsp (30 ml) chili powder
2 Tbsp (30 ml) cumin
2 Tbsp (30 ml) paprika
1 Tbsp (15 ml) onion powder
1 Tbsp (15 ml) garlic powder
1 tsp (5 ml) oregano
1 tsp (5 ml) salt
1/2 tsp (2 ml) pepper
Mix together all the ingredients and store in a glass or plastic container with a tight fitting lid or use a storage bag.
Be sure to label your taco seasoning.
What Other Variations Can I Try? A lot of people add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to their homemade taco seasoning mix recipe. Add pepper to taste based on how much heat you can handle. This recipe is mild because I'm a wimp who doesn't like my food to make me sweat. Ever.
Cornstarch (aka corn flour in other parts of the world) is added to some recipes as a thickener. It's completely optional.
Consider adding a pinch of turmeric for a more golden yellow color.
